TANCHJIM STARGATE iOS. This Stargate is a very refined iOS only unit, offering clean and clear sound. The timbre is outright flat neutral and totally no hint of coloration. Tonality wise it is very natural sounding with great balance, with enough organic touch to it. It is also very resolving, detailed and transparent of which many times I am hearing recording artifacts present in the tracks tested – however this also depends on how competent the IEMs/Headphones being used. Technical scalability on this Stargate is great of which the likes of Etymotic ER series sounded amazing with all the presented details. This is the sort of resolution on par with Ovidius B1, iBasso DC03-04, Hidizs S9 Pro and A&K PEE51. The usage of this Stargate is best for non-heavyweights below 75 Ohm and with no less than 96db of sensitivity. With more demanding IEMs or Headphones like the Tin HiFi P1 or Monolith M565c, dynamics will be less vibrant despite being quite listenable.

Best Pairing: Technically competent IEMs between 8 to 75Ω

  1. Jason Bhatnagar says:

What is the resolution supported? Does it support hi-res lossless apple music or only lossless?

    1. Andy.EF says:

I can’t answer this as I never use Apple Lossless.

      1. Jason Bhatnagar says:

Aside from Apple lossless then, what is the Stargate’s output resolution?

  2. DavidJ says:

Hello so i had been using apple dongle dac to use my b&w p7 wireless attached w cable , the headphone had 22-32ohm with 111db , as i been using my iphone 7 i enjoyed 70-85% volume but with my 11pro i had to turn it up to 90-100% to get an enjoyable loudness , i was asking if the stargate would be able to fix these volume issues as i wanted to use my 11pro more rather than 7, can i get atleast better amplified volume with stargate ? A reply would be wholesome 🙏🏻

    1. Andy.EF says:

Yes the Stargate will have better loudness versus Apple Dongle

      1. DavidJ says:

I see glad to hear that , as for the other benefits like sound that it makes. Is it 2x better than apple lightning dongle ?

Sorry for such a long reply back i did not see you reply so fast on my first questions 🥲

      2. Andy.EF says:

Yes it is better than Apple dongle

  3. Madeline says:

Does the Stargate produce audible popping in the headphones when you plug it into the phone, or is it nearly always silent like the Apple dongle?
I’ve used various lightning dacs that have unpleasant popping or clicking when plugging in/disconnecting, or when the dac powers on or off It seems to be a common implementation problem.

    1. Andy.EF says:

Not that I have observed so far

  4. Hamzzi says:

    Hi Andy,

    I really like stargate’s sound.
Is there any high ranked dac similar but sound better than this one?
