MCDODO Beethoven (CA-756). Technically competent DAC/Amp, with surprisingly good macro and micro details when paired with the likes of FOSTEX T40RP, Etymotic ER4SR and HZSOUND Heart Mirror.

As for driving power, it does need to be cranked all the way to over 90/100 to get for proper loudness on my T40RP 91db magnetic planar. It was pleasantly good sounding without any hint of timbre or dynamics stress/instability. Not exactly meaty like the top performers but it does not sound thin either. Very usable. Mid-Bass was impactful enough with fast responses, Sub-Bass with mildly audible presence.

Similarly on my Etymotic ER4SR, the synergy was great. I am especially happy with how spacious the soundstage is with holographic and tidy imaging. The technical aspect of MCDODO complements well with ER4SR – the sound being very transparent and neutrally balanced. Equally great with HZSOUND Heart Mirror….stellar in fact. Heart Mirror being more efficient to drive and with stronger dynamics. MCDODO provided very smooth and articulated drive with amazing speed.

I am also very pleased with MCDODO pairing to the Moondrop Aria. Very well balanced presentation and cleanly articulated Bass responses. MCDODO imparted audible technical competencies to Aria that enhances Macro and Micro details, amazing speed and transients.

Perhaps the biggest setback for this MCDODO is the weak driving power. But then that’s asking a lot for such a tiny device to drive demanding Magnetic Planars and Balanced Armatures. However, I am impressed still with it even pushed to the max with those stubborn devices.

⭐⭐⭐½ ($8.00)

Best Pairing: Flexible, IEMs/Earbuds under 70Ω
